Native Deodorant Review

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve seen me posting recently on my stories about Native Deodorant. You might even think “whoa whoa whoa Stacy…what happened to your beloved Lume????” Well you can get some more details on that right HERE. And let me just tell you, it feels good to not randomly stink when all I’m doing is sitting at my desk at work.

I found Native because one of the recommendations from Lume was to try using a soap that didn’t have SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), parabens, or phthalates. Well conveniently Native makes a soap free of those things too, and I could buy it at my local target instead having to pay for shipping. Bonus, they were on sale at target at the time. I decided while I was making my order for Target pickup, to throw in two of their mini deodorants too. I figured, what’s the worst that could happen?

I ordered those items and picked them up on November 14th. I’ve been using Native soap and Native deodorant for one month. I have to say, I rather like it. Their deodorant does have baking soda in it, so it won’t be feasible for people that are highly reactive to it. They do have a couple scents that have a reduced amount of baking soda, but they still all have some.

So here are my overall thoughts:

  • I don’t stink, which is ideal since that’s why I’m using deodorant.
  • I haven’t noticed any irritation (but I’m following my own advice from THIS POST to help reduce the chances)
  • I do reapply before a hot yoga or spin class, but this isn’t necessarily because I need to but as a precaution. I’ll try not reapplying and see how it goes.
  • I don’t need to reapply throughout the day when I’m at work or traveling. I really only reapply for evening workouts per my previous comment.
  • I do notice that if I put the deodorant on and then do a really sweaty workout….the deodorant kind of melts off my skin and into my shirt. So on a black or dark tank top you’ll kind of see streaks of white on the areas under my arms. Not that it really bothers me, but it doesn’t always look amazing.
  • They have quite a few scents to choose from, which means everyone is sure to find a scent they like. My favorite at the moment is the Eucalyptus & Mint scent. It’s technically marketed as a men’s scent, but why can’t a female like eucalyptus and mint?? Seems kind of girly if you ask me.
  • I’m really liking the soap too. I’ve had no reactions to it, and it doesn’t leave my skin super dry feeling.

I was loving the deodorant, and the not stinking part, so much that during their black friday sale I ordered the seasonal Peppermint deodorant AND soap!
