Outdoor Voices Warmup Shorts

I had high hopes for these shorts. It seems like every pair of compression shorts I try, rides up. It must be my body type or maybe I just care more than other people because I CANNOT deal with it.

OK I lied, I have one pair of shorts from a few years ago, from the brand Lucy, which doesn’t exist anymore. They only ride up a TINY bit, because they have grippy tape all along the interior of the bottom seam of the leg. Why don’t more companies do this????

Anyway, the reviews for the Outdoor Voices Warmup Shorts were great, so many “these don’t ride up” comments or “everything rides up on me but these don’t!” I was skeptical, but I had a 20% off coupon and they have free shipping. Well let me tell you…EVERYTHING rides up on me, including these.

They weren’t terrible, and I actually can deal with wearing these shorts. I think I’ve worn them every week since I got them, which does say a lot. However, they do still ride up a little. Other than that, I think they fit true to size, and are comfortable. I wish they had side pockets…everything should have pockets, but that’s just my opinion! There is one waistband pocket, but it isn’t large enough to fit my phone, which makes it less than useful.

Pocket

Here are the deets on these shorts:

  • 5″ inseam
  • 85% polyester, 14% spandex
  • Sweat-wicking
  • Waistband pocket

The fabric isn’t super soft like Lululemon Aligns or Athleta Powervita fabric, but it’s soft enough to be comfortable. They have a nice color selection which includes neutrals in case you don’t like bright colors, and they have seasonal colors if you like a little something more fun. Plus Outdoor Voices has free shipping and returns, so that’s convenient if you’re like me and there isn’t a store nearby to try things on.

I’ve done pretty much every type of workout in them now, and I stand by my original opinion. They ride up a little, but not really enough to bother me most of the time. The texture and color variation in the fabric hides sweat pretty well, or at least it did in the pink color that I have.

The seam on the inner thigh has frayed slightly. It’s nothing terrible, and I cut it off after this picture, but something to note for wear and tear on the shorts.

Fraying seam

All in all, I’d say they are 7.5/10 which is pretty high. If they had side pockets they’d probably get a 8/10. They do ride up, but only slightly. With the free shipping and returns, I’d say, give them a try! If you do want to try them you can get 20% off by using THIS LINK. If you do try them, be sure to let me know 🙂
