Nike Air Zoom Structure 22 Shield Running Shoe Review

I don’t know about you, but we’ve had a rainy spring and beginning of summer here in Kansas City. It also seems to rain every time I travel….Europe, Asia…anywhere in the US.

Nike Water Resistant Shoes

So when I saw that Nike made “water resistant” running shoes, I thought to myself “you need these.” I tried on a couple different style and decided on the Air Zoom Structure 22 Shield. In my mind there is nothing worse than wearing wet tennis shoes all day. I’ve done it, in NYC, and it sucked, big time.

I’ve had these shoes for about 6 months now, and I have to say, I’m not disappointed. I’ve run in them, and they are pretty decent for running, although I wouldn’t recommend them for a marathon or anything. I took them on my trip to Asia, and was glad that I did. I haven’t noticed my feet getting wet at all when I’ve worn them in the rain. Granted, if it’s pouring and water is literally falling from the sky, down your legs, and running into your shoes, or splashing into them, you’re feet are going to get wet. That’s not the shoes fault, so don’t expect miracles. I’d say they are also true to size, and order whatever size you normally wear in Nike shoes.

What do you think are you a fair weather explorer, so no need for water resistant shoes? Or are you out and about all the time and benefit from having dry feet? I’d definitely recommend them if you travel and only want to take one pair of sneaks with you. They fit the bill for rainy or dry days!

They make other styles in the “Shield” version too, so if you see “shield” in the name, those are the water resistant version.

Here are some of the other styles:
