My Favorite Workout Clothing – Tops & Sports Bras

First off, I’m part of the itty-bitty club, so I can’t make recommendations for someone that has a larger chest. I do have really sensitive skin though, so sports bras that have seams that rub my skin can be really irritating and uncomfortable. I also have a lot of problems with sports bras where the straps sit high on the traps, because it tends to cause me headaches. I really prefer sports bras when they have adjustable straps for this reason. Yes, I’m high maintenance when it comes to sports bras. Really it comes down to personal preference and comfort for each person, but here are some of the ones that I would consider my favorites.

Lorna Jane

I LOVE their sports bras. They have a nice amount of padding, which is nice for someone like me who doesn’t mind a little help in that area. They are also super cute. The Lorna Jane sports bras I have are also pretty comfortable.  I can wear them all day without getting uncomfortable. This Amelie Bra is my all time favorite Lorna Jane sports bra. Lorna Jane has so many cute tops. I mostly only have tanks but they have really cool open back designs that I haven’t seen anywhere else. The only downside is they are kind of pricey and they don’t have many stores in the US, so you’re stuck buying them online.

Athleta

If you read my post about my favorite leggings, then you know that Athleta is one of my favorite companies. I don’t really love all of their sports bras, but there are a couple that I really like. The Renewal Bra is one of THE most comfortable bras that I own.  I can wear it all day without having any discomfort. It says it’s low support for cup size A-C, but I find the support to be sufficient for all types of activities. It isn’t the most stylish, but it makes up for it in comfort, trust me. The Deep Breath Bralette is another one of my favorite bras.  It has a higher neckline in the front and it’s a little bit longer.  I really like to wear this as more of a crop top with leggings for spin classes. As far as tops go, Athleta has everything from “unstinkable” tanks to shirts you can wear to work. I can’t think of a top from here that I’ve purchased that I don’t love.

Lululemon

The Energy Bra is a classic that a lot of people like.  It’s comfortable, and I’ve had mine a couple years and it’s held up pretty well. I also used to love a bra that was called Flow Y or something, but I don’t see it on their website anymore. Lululemon makes my favorite running sports bra. It’s from last season, so hopefully they have something similar this year.  It’s a bra that you can stick your phone into the back of.  It’s great for summer when you’re running or biking outside and aren’t wearing leggings with pockets because it’s too hot.

Forever21

If you’re looking for reasonably priced activewear, that you want to be on trend, this is a great place to shop. You might feel like a grandma standing in line with all the teeny boppers, but they have some really cute stuff! I have some great sports bras and tops from here that are super stylish and super cheap.  I don’t expect them to last for years, but if you want something trendy, you aren’t expecting it to last forever.

I do have a few sports bras from Victoria’s Secret, but I honestly just don’t like them as much as the other ones that I’ve listed. They simply don’t seem as comfortable to me. What are your favorite brands of sports bras?
