5 Reasons I Love TIEM Slipstream Cycling Shoes

TIEM Slipstream Indoor Cycling Shoe Review

I don’t recall the first time I saw TIEM cycling shoes, but let’s be honest, it was probably on Instagram. Anyway, I saw the pricetag and held off buying them, mostly because I was recovering from wrist surgery and I wasn’t allowed to even get on a bike. I eventually was allowed to try biking and decided I wanted to try clipping in again. Why I thought it was a good idea to clip in again on my road bike is beyond me. I’ve fallen numerous times in the past, and with a bum wrist, it seems like a stupid idea looking back.

Fast forward and I’ve been taking a lot of indoor spin classes and my TIEM’s have been coming in very handy. (BTW it’s pronounced like the two letters “T-M” I read that on their website).

What exactly do I like about them:
  • They are tennis shoe style (other brands make them too) and the cleats are recessed, so you can walk around like there isn’t even a cleat on the bottom of your shoes. They still have a stiffer sole than tennis shoes though, so you don’t get a ton of flex while riding. If you’re not big into spin, you may not know that you don’t want a ton of flex in your shoes.
  • They fit really well, if you have narrower feet. If you have wide feet the probably won’t be that comfortable since they are pretty form fitting.
  • They are SPD cleat compatible, which is a really common clip that most spin studios use, so you can take your own shoes instead of having to rent or use shoes from the studio.
  • They are CUTE! Seriously though, they look really sleek and nice, and that’s probably the main reason why I bought them. (If they hadn’t fit or I hated them, I would have returned them)
  • They come in SO MANY COLORS. I have both the black with marble bottoms, and the bold citron. They have standard colors available year round, but they also have seasonal colors which I’m all about.

TIEM does recommend that you size down 1/2 size. I normally wear a 9 in almost all athletic shoes, so I tried an 8.5, and they fit great! Just be aware that if you can’t return the shoes if you’ve installed cleats in them, so try them on and make sure you have the correct size first!
