Affordable Kansas City Fitness Classes

Not everyone can or wants to spend $25 for a boutique fitness class. As awesome as they are, it’s just not feasible for a lot of people. However, there are so many affordable or free workout classes available in Kansas City.

Most studios will have a free or discounted week or at least a free or discounted first class. If they don’t, you don’t need them, seriously!

Athleta – This isn’t just a KC thing, but nationwide they offer a ton of free classes that you take in store (usually before the store opens) everything from hiit to yoga and running, you can find a class you’ll enjoy. They will typically do a gift card giveaway or a 20% off voucher as well. There are stores located on the Plaza and in Leawood at Town Center. I have taken advantage of these classes MANY times!

Pilates at WWI Museum – This class was $5, and while it wasn’t a class where I was dripping with sweat, I could definitely feel the burn. Plus you’re in an awesome venue and can enjoy the city skyline after your class! You can see what events they have coming up by clicking “Upcoming Events” under “VISIT” on their homepage or by clicking the link above or the image below.

REI – I recently discovered that my local REI has a free yoga class (with CorePower yoga) every Sunday morning at Prairie Fire. They also offer workshops on bike maintenance, backpacking, etc. if yoga isn’t your thing. If you have an REI nearby you can check the local store calendar to see any and all classes they offer!

Yoga at Crossroads Hotel – This class is located at a cool venue and $5 donations for a local charity are accepted. It is offered every Saturday morning, and you can stay and have an awesome brunch after. The class was set up for every level, so don’t worry if you’re a beginner.

CorePower Yoga – Most yoga studios will offer you a free week to try it out. I’m not saying take advantage of this, but I’m also not saying not to.

Mojo Cycling – I know it’s weird to put this on this list, because it’s actually quite pricey. However, they do offer a free first class, so it’s a good way to try it out! You can also sometimes find a Groupon for this studio, which makes it way more affordable!

Cyclebar – They offer a $29 “New Rider Unlimited Week” so you can go to as many classes in that week as your little heart desires. Be forewarned, this is how they get you hooked and then you end up paying a ton of money, great marketing strategy.

Fusion Fitness $5 Friday- Any class that isn’t booked up on Friday, they have a drop in $5 price. If it works with your schedule, this can be a great way to attend their classes!

Last but not least, Google is your friend. That’s how I found Surge Cycling in Minneapolis. They had a 2 classes for $16 special for first timers, and that’s a great deal for spin classes. It might take you a few minutes, but you can find some awesome deals and studios!

UPDATE: I also recently found out that PowerLife Yoga has a ton of free classes in each of their studios each week. I’m pretty sure there is at least one free class offered everyday. How awesome is that? I tried out their free Hot Yoga class last week, and it was hard! So check them out too!
