How to Prepare for the Week

Here are my top tips for preparing for the week. It’s written in regards to health and fitness, but the same techniques can be applied to may areas of your life.

Select Outfits – I’ve mentioned this before, but on Sunday afternoon/evening I pick out 6 workout outfits for the week. One for each workout. I do this because I like to look cute, but it’s also super easy to waste time looking for clothes in the morning. I keep them on a cabinet behind my bathroom door. Then, every evening I set them out to quickly throw on when I wake up! It really makes getting ready for the gym in the early morning hours so much easier. When I worked out over lunch, I would simply take the next outfit of the pile and stick in my gym bag.

Meal Plan/Prep – I talked all about this in THIS blogpost last week, but meal plan/prepping is seriously such a life saver. Fail to plan…plan to fail.

Schedule Your Workouts – Set your schedule for the week. We are all busy doing so many things, including work, meetings, kids, events, etc. We all seem to have so much going on ALL THE TIME. It’s not wonder that we feel overwhelmed and don’t know how to fit a workout into our days. However, working out is such a stress reliever and has really helped me. Scheduling out my week, so I know when I’m going to workout, helps me stick to it. Seriously, write it down in your planner, or save it in your calendar on your phone. I used to workout over lunch everyday, and I put an appointment on my calendar everyday so that people couldn’t schedule meetings during that time. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Set Your Goals/Intentions – I have to say that I’m honestly not always the best at setting goals. I am getting better though. It doesn’t necessarily have to relate to fitness, it can be personal or professional goals, but it is a great idea to set goals for the week, or at least the month. Setting and achieving goals can do wonders to promoting self-esteem and respect for yourself. Short term, long-term, set them all! To set your goals you can use the simple “SMART” tool, make your goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. The more you set goals, the better you’ll get at setting goals. I promise!

Is there anything you do to set yourself up for success every week? If so, let me know what you do!
