My Favorite Workout Clothing – Leggings Edition

I own a lot of leggings, more than one person should own. You know what though, I JUST KEEP BUYING THEM! It’s to the point that I have so many I just can’t wear them all. It’s ok, because then they last longer before wearing out. I often get a lot of comments on my outfits, and especially my leggings. I’m known for a lot of colorful and patterned attire. All black outfit….never! So where DO I like to shop? Here are a few of my favorite stores for leggings.

  • Athleta – I love Athleta. Their PowerVita fabric is amazing. It’s almost as soft as Lululemon Align’s but it doesn’t pill, and I’m not afraid to wear it! I love the variety in their styles, colors, and patterns, and they have a lot more “athleisure” apparel than other brands. They offer sizes XXS-XL. Athleta is also now a “B Corp Certified.” What does this mean? A B Corporation means that they have a commitment to social and environmental, accountability, performance, and transparency in their business. The focus on the “Power of She” campaign, which focuses on uplifting and empowering women. The use recycled and sustainable materials for a large portion of their leggings with the hope to increase this in the future. They also support programs that impact women who create their apparel. They also offer a ton of free classes in the majority of their stores. I’ve personally taken advantage of this on numerous occasions!
  • K-Deer – These leggings are some of the most amazingly colorful and patterned leggings ever. They are pretty thin, but somewhat compressive. I don’t typically wear them for lifting, although I have. I find them absolutely amazing for spin class. One of the great things about this company is they offer their product in sizes XS-4XL. This is one of the largest ranges of sizes I’ve seen, which offers stylish clothing to women of all sizes and all stages of their journey. Everyone wants cute clothing!
  • Buffbunny – I randomly started following Heidi on YouTube a few years ago. I didn’t buy their original clothing, but I purchased my first pair of their leggings on a whim about a year ago. I currently have their capris, Luna leggings, and sports bra. Their leggings are my favorite of everything I have, not that I dislike the other items. I love their leggings because they have pockets, they are comfortable, and they come out with fun new items every couple months. They offer their clothing in sizes XS-XL.
  • Lululemon – I have a love/hate relationship with this company. They do make some really good leggings with some really awesome fabrics. The align leggings literally feel like butter, they are so soft and smooth.  They aren’t supposed to be used for cardio or a ton of people have said they pill.  I actually had a pair replaced because all of the seams on the left leg were fraying.  It was really nice of them to replace them. They are just so darn expensive and really hold a monopoly on the industry. I think there are other brand out there that are just as great if not better but less well known. They offer their clothing in size 2-12.

There are so many great leggings options, and it really depends on the person on which one they like.  Here are a couple other brands that I like and can be found for more reasonable prices than those listed above.

  • Girlfriend Collective – I got in on this brand when they were doing their “only pay shipping” promotion a long time ago.  They are great leggings and I actually want to get more to really test them out!
  • Aerie – They have some really fun patterns and colors, and they are comfortable. Not always squat proof, but good for upper body days and cardio.
  • Fabletics – The high-waisted leggings are really comfortable.  However, to get the cheaper prices you have to do the VIP thing, which not everyone is into.
  • Victoria’s Secret – They have some decent leggings, and when they are on sale you can get them for a really good price.  Don’t ever buy them full price, because they always have sales.
  • Calia by Carrie Underwood – They are decent leggings.
  • New Balance – If you have an outlet near you or can get them on sale, they are some great leggings for running.

What are some of your favorite activewear brands? I could easily go into a lot more detail about each brand listed above. So if anyone wants specifics feel free to leave a comment!
